How to Move to the Beach with No Money

How to Move to the Beach with No Money

If you are anything like me, you have said on one or twenty occasions that you wish you could just pack up and move to the beach. However, one thing that stops a lot of people from doing so is money. Whether they feel as though they do not have enough money or no money at all.

That’s not the case though as there are tips and tricks you can use to move to the beach with less money than you would expect. This means that money will no longer have any control over your decision. Which is something that we’ve all considered at one point or another. Who wouldn’t want to live somewhere where it feels like they are on vacation year-round?

1. Research Everything

How to Move to the Beach with No MoneyBefore you can even begin to consider leaping, you need to make sure you’ve researched everything that you can. Such as places to live, their cost of living, transportation, jobs available, remote jobs you could apply for, and more. Everything you find will help you make your final decision on which beach and area is the right one for you.

When it comes to living near the beach, there are places you can move to that are right on the beach in the United States and around the world. Some of the more affordable beach areas to live by are Biloxi or Gulfport, Mississippi, and Freeport or Port Arthur, Texas to name a few. These communities offer affordable housing costs and low property taxes.

The average cost of property taxes in these beach cities is around $1,200 annually and the average housing cost is only $750. Compared to other cities that are near beaches, these costs are quite low and can easily be accommodated, especially if you are open to having a roommate or two. That would lower the costs even further.

Cost of living will also affect your decision since the harder a city is to reach, the fewer materials they make, crops they can grow, and more can all impact how much you’ll spend on food and everyday essentials. So, finding an area where the cost of living is low can take you further than you would think, especially if you are beginning with little to no money.

Finding and applying to jobs before moving can also help to secure you some financial stability when you arrive. Beach towns and cities typically have tourism-related jobs available year-round and are popular areas for remote workers to live.

2. What About Your Job?

If you have a current job that does not offer any flexibility to request a transfer or work remotely, you’ll need to give your notice to move. Then begin to look at new jobs in the area you are interested in. As we mentioned when discussing research, there are usually a bunch of remote workers who live in beach towns that can offer advice and perspective or tourism-related jobs are available.

No job is too little or too bad when you want to move and just need something for the time being. When moving with no money there isn’t too much room for being picky – which is something important to remember. So having something figured out and in place before making any decision is crucial to ensure that you can enjoy your new area and settle in once you move.

With remote work options becoming more popular in the last two or so years there are options available. Whether you are interested in being a virtual assistant, doing data entry, marketing, research, etc. the options are endless now. These remote jobs can allow you to live wherever, beware of time zone differences though, and get your work done.

A great option for anyone looking for their next adventure; living on the beach with little to no money. Just remember that a job of some sort will be a necessity once you reach your final beach destination. It will allow you to enjoy the move more and meet new people in the area.

3. Plan It Out

How to Move to the Beach with No MoneyHaving a plan for the move is very important and can save you a ton of money if done correctly. After researching everything and figuring out your job plans, the rest of the plans come into play.

Such as, what are you going to do with your belongings? Most people who move to a beach area tend to sell anything they do not feel the need to take with them. This allows them to travel lighter, like pack up their car and just drive to the new area themselves light. Saving money on moving costs, packing materials, a storage locker, and anything else of that nature.

Downsizing beforehand can eliminate a lot of the excess items you may otherwise be inclined to move with, and it can add some extra money to your pocket if you sell the items, you no longer want or need. Also, if you can drive to your new home, you will not need to worry about buying a plane ticket or extra luggage.

Planning the move out ahead of time downsizing what you can, will go a long way. Not only making the move easier but lowering the cost of the move as well. If you begin planning early enough you can also look for roommates or subleasing options, both tend to be cheaper than living alone. Allowing you to again lower your initial expenses when moving to the beach.

4. Pack and Go

After researching, planning, downsizing, and figuring out you’re housing and job the only thing left for you to do is to pack your stuff and go. Next thing you know you’ll be driving into your new town or city ready to begin this new adventure of yours.

If you can do the three steps above, you may just be ready to complete your move to living on the beach with no money. Every day can feel like a vacation when you get to enjoy walks on the beach, surfing, tourist events, and more.

If you are ready to stop overthinking your beach move and take the plunge these are the steps to follow. Make sure you do thorough research on everything from places to jobs available there, figure out what to do with your job, plan it out and begin to downsize and go. These steps allow you to find your ideal beach to live by with little to no money. While still being able to enjoy yourself once you arrive.
